Y17 Juvenile Workouts
Some Motivation Acquired
The end of December was always tough especially bright and early of the 6 am peak hour at most. Carrie Donovan was well beyond awake with her coffee in hand although it would not be for too long. She could hear screaming coming from the stalls and it was not human. Looking at the stable entrance she soon saw a black colt with distinctive markings and knew immediately who it was. Carrie set her coffee down and rushed to the black colt where he stopped immediately with a rear before Carrie grabbed the reins and sighed. "Menace, you crazy buffoon stand still will you." Carrie said before spotting Terri Lane out of breath. "I swear this guy is not a horse, he's a machine out to get me." Terri said before mounting the colt much to Carrie's help.
The black colt was sired by the very well known Impressario who dominated the turf tracks much to be known as the turf king like all of his foals who also dominated the turf. In My Remains was not a horse that was so nice and calm. Joining them was Secrets Garden, a filly by Rulers Secret and one that didn't pack so much attitude. Lawrence Kaine guided the filly out to stand afar from Menace and the trainer only to shake his head, "It impresses me that Menace will even let anyone ride him. Good-luck out there Terri." Lawrence set out first along the turf surfaced track the blue eyed filly looked at her reach and kept calm however, her hooves were digging into the grass as if she was ready to go. Terri soon trotted the colt over to the track, when he realized who was on his back he soon came to a small calm Terri shared a bond with Menace, he trusted her. The two horses were side by side of course, Menace playing with the bit in his mouth he soon grew uncomfortable.
"Alright you two take them out into a canter to let them get the feel of the track with the last furlong set them loose, let them have some fun, but only at the end." Carrie said walking off the track so she wouldn't get run over. Terri nodded and got ready as did Lawrence. Both horses soon started in a slow canter, Menace nipped at his stablemate before heading into a lead with his tail raised he pursued to follow in Terri's commands. Dena looked graceful as she went her beauty came from her mother and she ignored the colts motions at her. Both horses were soon in a faster pace as both jockeys soon raised them the a gallop, Dena began coming from the inside her strides were searching farther apart and as for Menace well he was well fit and kept searching to stay in front.
Both horses were soon commanded to come to a halt after the last furlong and Menace gave a temper bobbing his head and kicking when Terri reached down and rubbed the middle of his neck. "Its okay Menace, you will have your race in do time. Its okay boy." She spoke with an easy tone that seemed to do the trick. Carrie soon approached the duo and clapped her hands at the achievements. "They were both pretty fast there at the end. Next time we can take Menace out on a longer run I think he can totally take on the 12 furlong route." Carrie suggested for their next workout. Both jockeys guided the horses back to their stalls to rest before their first start out as a maiden juvenile.

Something Fierce
Chris Stevens started the morning a grabbed the reins of Insolence, a filly out of Heart of Stone by Aces Diamond Rio a different combination around. While many thought this filly was be different than her angered heart mother, they were surprised her attitude showed dominance and integrity. She walked as if of royalty and threw her head at Chris. The two were soon greeted by Sable abroad Spartan, a full brother to Heart of Stone and one with character. Heart of Stone was unraceble, Spartan would be the racing sensation. "This is gonna be an interesting ride." Sable spoke patting the overo colored horse beneeath him.
"Let us not forget me eh?" Carlos said approaching with Hamlet, a son to Hokum. He was looking dashing as ever as if he was meant for the track. Hamlet had impeccable bloodlines which would lead him to the distances. Mason came out and sighed with the three he was in charge of. "Alright let's make this easy, Chris I want you to take Sola out first she has the energy so lets build that up with the track, Sable Spartan may need some work so he will follow along Sola and that at the half mile turn him loose see what he's got. Carlos Hamlet seems to show his sire's traits for running so let him find his strides out there and when he's ready let him go." Mason said as fast as he could to let them get the workout over with.
Chris did just as the trainer suggested and let Insolence take her time on the track. The black filly looked graceful as she set out throwing her head sometime fighting the reins and her jockey for a brief moment before trusting Chris and his commands on the track. Everyone watching was in disbelief of her attitude. Spartan was soon to follow and the colt was muscular in the shoulders and held his head high as he began to gain track on Insolence. Hamlet ran with a smooth canter before it came to a fast gallop that he built his momentum before he chose to take off. Each jockey wanted the horses to get the feel of what a real racetrack would be and the three would build their confidence in each other.
Without question Hamlet gained the lead passing both Sola and Spartan by a nose before all of them were to come to a stop to settle on their first run. Mason clapped his hands at their success and headed over to greet them. "Well done guys, they all are looking well enough to race. Their first run we will just see how it effects them in their first race." Mason said before letting them return the horses to the stables to rest before the big races.

Sunset Appeal
Terri Lane was very excited Tears of the Sun was about to head out for his first run as a juvenile and he had grown quite nicely. The Tears of Blood colt was going to run the sprint division and would try out for the sprint triple crown when the time was needed. Scooby of course had his tantrums before walking out of the stalls to cool off his nerves. Meredith Hently was taking out Enchanted Lust, a filly by Attractive Flight and she was one to drive for a competitive streak at least her personality told them so.
Next was a filly by Gamble on Peace, All In a beautiful chestnut filly that valiantly looked like her mother in looks while having her sire's color. She was a half sister to Nature Valleys' own Reflected in Water and Chaotic Limitations. All In was certainly in high hopes for the sprint triple tiara and her bloodlines could prove it. Scooby certainly nipped his way onto the track with getting a few bites as well from the other two. Each of them preferred to close, remain in the back of the pack until they gained their confidence to push to the front of the pack. Following her was Enchanted Lust, a new blood to Nature Valley by Attractive Flight out of De-Lovely the dark bay filly was quite competitive and when brought to the other two she bobbed her head ready to go.
Sunny set up in the lead as they started with Enchanted Lust pushing on his left, All In took her sweet time letting the front two tire themselves out before she began to become determined and push her way to the front fighting all urges to nip at her fellow juveniles and put everything she got before hitting her mark where she was told to run. Tears of the Sun grew impatient and kept on the chestnuts tail before both he and Lust came to a slow calming trot. The colt was not satisfied and began pestering the ladies beside him, Enchanted Lust neighed at him before walking away without the permission of her jockey. All In returned the favor to Scooby and soon the colt realized to back off. "Alright you guys knock it off. I swear you all are like children." Terri said easing Tears of the Sun forward to return to the stables in a calm manner. Meredith and Chris walked their horses next to each other with All In holding her head proud and high and Enchanted Lust with no care in the world. The big races were coming and they would all be prepared for their time to come and shine.

Silent Night
Meredith was on edge abroad Sillencio, the colt had grown to become a fine looking animal with his spunk and flirtation towards others of his species. The colt always held his head high and never spooked with any noise. Lenny liked to play alpha or leader of the herd when inside the paddock of his fellow juveniles. His strides were even and his ears forward when they were approached by a chestnut colt which Meredith knew as Gallant Pup. Chris always rode the moody horses it seemed he had a talent for them when he rode GS SuperCharged to victory.
Sillencio would prove dominance over the distance tracks his siblings proved that much in the long run while Gallant Pup would favor miles. Pops was smaller in his field it would gain him speed and agility. Both horses took off with a slow start both appealing the back before Sillencio would take off to the lead. Chris steadied the reins in his hands allowing Gallant Pup to find his stride and within moments the chestnut colt changed his gears and began pushing the bay colt as he soon matched the others stride.
Sillencio kept his stamina strong as he pushed his legs farther apart which each step not backing down. The two gradually pushed each other until they hit their marker and was eased to slow down. Gallant Pup halted with frustration and a tug on his own bit and halter and began to fight with Chris on who was the boss, "Hey now Pops cool it. You will run again soon my friend." Chris spoke with a glance from Meredith that had her laugh and pat Sillencio's neck before turning him back towards the stables. After five long minutes of fight and patience Chris managed to control Gallant Pup and head him back to the stalls for a good brush and a snack after a long hard day.

Front and Center
Today had the offspring of GS SuperCharged on the practice track together. It may have been a bad idea at first but the jockey's felt it would build their confidence to want to push more. Manny was of the first crop of GS SuperCharged as well as Missy. Manny had grown into a fine colt who was quite the character he was quite demanding and when Sable came to level himself on the back of the colt, Manny bobbed his head with his hooves dug into the ground.
Missy was just as ill tempered, the filly was a half sister to Alluring Assault and she was just a fighter as her brother. Terri eased the filly out to a nice canter as they waited for the other two. Once Sable eased Manny onto the track Missy grew impatient and reared with the frustration of her half brother coming to the track. "Easy Missy its alright lets go girl come on." Terri said as she started the filly early so she could keep the fillies mind off ease.
Missy ran depending on the field in this case she would fall to the back of the pack where Manny soon took off to the lead as he was being trained to do. Sable held on tight to the reins as he felt the speed come off from the colt. Missy was still a length away before Manny soon locked on target and began to speed up to match the stride of Missy's. Missy however was not going to back down as she soon came into Manny's path and then the two became into a dual before they crossed the wire and became quite calm after their long run. Both the colt and the filly were in set stalls right next to each other. Terri and Sable could only smile at each other before heading back to the stables.
